Biography:

Dr. Faojia Sultana is a medical grad obtaining her M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree from Rangpur Medical College under University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh in 2013. After that, she completed her one-year internship training programme from Rangpur Medical College Hospital, Rangpur. Soon after the completion of her internship, she joined International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) as a Research Fellow under the Nutrition and Clinical Services Division in 2015 and worked in multiple research projects. In the year 2016, she was awarded with a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK to pursue MSc in Global Health and Development at University College London (UCL), United Kingdom. She successfully completed her MSc degree in September 2017 with a higher merit. Since January 2018, she has been working as a Lecturer of Public Health at the Institute of Health Economics, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Teaching:

She currently teaches Health Sciences in 1st year, Structure and Management of Health Sector in 2nd year(B.S.S. in Health Economics); and Public Health in Masters (M.S.S. in Health Economics). She applies interactive teaching methods in the classroom with a focus on providing creative and practical learning experience for the students.
Research:

Dr. Faojia’s research interests include key areas such as, public health and policy, global health, health economics, and health systems and management.

During her research fellowship at icddr,b, she has worked as a co-investigator on the SIDA funded research projecttitled ‘Food and micronutrient status and epigenetic changes in the etiology of stunting’ for one and a half year. She was actively involved in project development, data collection and analysis, team training, monitoring and report writing phases of the project.

She has done substantial research and literature review for her MSc Dissertation at the Institute of Global Health, University College London under the supervision of Dr. Shivani Singh in the year 2017. The title of her completed dissertation work was ‘Analyzing the barriers towards achieving Universal Health Coverage in Bangladesh.’
